Young director Hugo Erikssen, a student of Rimantas Tuminas, staged a play based on the work of Kirill Fokin. Graduate of the Shchukin School, Hugo Erikssen directed a performance featuring leading artists of the Alexandrinsky Theatre, using as a basis the eponymous play by young author Kirill Fokin, whose work "Fire" was staged at the New Stage of the theatre in 2016. In the play "Demagogue," the author turns to the distant past to find parallels with today’s events. The problems faced by his characters turn out to be very close to modern people. The plot is built around the events of the Peloponnesian War. The author poses questions: can a state regime be chosen, or is choice merely an illusion; where does true power lie today - in money or in ideology, or is any ideology built on money? In our times, this sounds extremely relevant.
