In his tales, he speaks to a young audience about serious topics. The tale "The Black Violin" is about love, death, and humanity. The main characters, a brother and sister, tell a story from their childhood. Long ago, when they were little, the sister fell seriously ill. Everything that once brought her joy now faded - toys, books, balloons. One evening, the girl couldn't sleep and asked her brother to play for her on the black violin - their father brought it for the children but forbade them to touch it, as it was "special." The boy begins to play the violin, and it starts to obey him. The sister falls asleep, and then Death enters the room. The boy protects his sister with music, and humanity awakens in Death.
