An exciting production for all ages, full of mysterious shadows and amazing characters. Director Ekaterina Polovtseva turned to the fairy tale by Anton Pogorelsky "The Black Hen, or the Underground Dwellers," created for his nephew Alyosha - the future writer Alexei Tolstoy. The fantastic plot, somewhat reminiscent of Hoffmann's fairy tales, contains important educational messages: one must listen to elders, be diligent, not boast, not lie, and if one gives their word, keep it at all costs. The famous scenographer Emil Kapelyush created concise yet very expressive scenery for the play, mysterious and awakening the imagination. Costume designer Anastasia Nikonova devised astonishing outfits for the fairy-tale characters. The play, resembling a wonderful dream, will impress audiences of all generations.
