Wanting to get rich quickly, the hero sets off on a journey. He believes that there is a magical field where he can bury coins for great profit. In a modest workshop of a carpenter named Carlo, an unusual boy with a very long nose is born. He is made from a talking log that resolutely did not want to become firewood and burn in the stove. Caring Papa Carlo goes out to get food for the boy and buy him an alphabet book. Meanwhile, Buratino explores his home. Seeing the hearth and the steaming pot above it, he decides to find out what is being cooked there. The objects turn out to be drawn, so the boy's long nose pierces the paper. In the dark hole, he sees a mysterious door hidden behind a canvas. After receiving an onion for lunch and an alphabet book from his caring parent, the boy sets off for school. On the way, he sells the book for five gold coins. He meets a cunning fox and her friend the cat, who pretends to be blind to beg for money from people. The boy boasts to them about his wealth. His new friends want to get the money and invent a tall tale about a magical field where one can bury five coins and retrieve a fortune in the morning. Buratino sets off on a journey with the cat and the fox. On this path, he will lose his wealth but gain more - friends and a real puppet theater.
