Director Olga Subbotina presented a stage adaptation of Gustave Flaubert's novel "Madame Bovary." Flaubert creates and describes the inner world of a woman - Emma Bovary - the daughter of a farmer. A chain of events, including marriage, depression, bankruptcy, debts, and confusion in numerous love affairs, leads her to suicide. In the novel, as in the heroine herself, there is something demonic. Passion and despair, obsession and love go hand in hand. The performance is divided into two acts and is interesting in form because the action first takes place in the Amphitheater and then in the Chamber Hall. The change of scenery metaphorically echoes the changes in the lives of the characters in the novel, including Emma herself, her husband Charles, and their little daughter.
