The play by Evgeny Zamyatin based on the story by Nikolai Leskov "Lefty" is an appeal to the traditions of the buffoon theater. In 1925, the premiere of the play, written for MХАТA-II, took place on its stage, directed by Alexei Diky. The director transformed the play based on Leskov's prose and the tales of Tula craftsmen into a jester's fair, with decorations designed by Boris Kustodiev. At RAMT, they do not strive to repeat the legendary production but address the traditions of the buffoon street theater in their own way, without losing the sense of today.
