Director Yuri Ioffe staged the play by Alexander Ostrovsky, written in collaboration with playwright Pyotr Nevezhin. The main character, the owner of an estate, falls in love with her young manager. The feeling she experiences becomes the joy and meaning of her life. It doesn't seem like folly, but that's exactly what the relatives who arrived at the estate think. Moreover, this daring young man constantly parties in the city, gambling away everything that constitutes the estate's wealth-from carriages to forests and lands. And so, the aunt of the owner decides to take matters into her own hands and deter the manager from her niece. One of the questions raised in the play is: whose folly is it here?
