The classic author Ostrovsky and the classic play for the actors of the Workshop - the desperate feeling of Larisa Ogudalova suffocates in cash and hopelessness. Creepy and sad romances fill the production, which greatly distinguishes it from the traditional version of the television film, as in this play the main idea is the absolute bleakness of the existence of a loving girl. Romances and gypsy songs are heard in the literal sense - their authors and transcribers are quite well-known: V. Mazurkevich, A. Timofeev, and O. Mandelstam himself. For her role as the main character, Polina Agureeva received the "Golden Mask" award. Interestingly, the central male image in the production is that of Karandyshev, whereas in the television film and in classical productions, the main character was Paratov. The strictness and clarity of broken lines is the main principle of this play, and the multitasking of the Workshop actors' style of play triumphs here as well.
