About

A play based on the work of Alexander Ostrovsky directed by Anatoly Shulyev - a production created specifically for Svetlana Nemolyaeva, who celebrates her anniversary in 2017. "Mad Money" is a sort of continuation of the play ["For Every Wise Man, There Is Enough Simplicity"](https://kudago.com/msk/event/na-mudreca-dovolno-prostoty/), connected by the character of Yegor Dmitrievich Glumov. He still dreams of a rich bride, is still sharp-tongued, and prone to intrigue. Ostrovsky continues to explore the theme of the crisis of the nobility and the images of those who have joined the wealthy class in pursuit of profit. However, the "honest industrialist" Vasilkov does not evoke the author's sympathy; his moral inadequacy and attitude towards love as a commodity bring him closer to outright "predators." One of the main ideas of the play is monetary interest as the sole motive for the characters' behavior. Svetlana Nemolyaeva, an outstanding Russian actress, joined the "Mayakovka" troupe in 1959. Over the years, she has played more than fifty roles. She has been acting in films since 1945 to the present day. Svetlana Nemolyaeva's benefit performance on the stage of her native theater was directed by the young director Anatoly Shulyev, a student of Rimas Tuminas. Shulyev's diploma play "The King Is Dying" participated in a festival in Lithuania, and his short films have been nominated for awards at international film festivals. You can find even more performances on our website in the theater section.
