The first performance in the history of the Moscow Art Theatre based on Mikhail Bulgakov's play "Flight" - a work by director Sergey Zhenovach. Bulgakov wrote the play about the White Army and the catastrophe of emigration specifically for the Moscow Art Theatre. However, censorship banned "Flight," and the premiere did not take place. The play was first performed only during the Soviet "thaw" and at another theater. Finally, nearly a century after it was written, the play was staged for the first time at the Moscow Art Theatre. As for Sergey Zhenovach, this is his second engagement with Bulgakov's work on this stage: here, his "White Guard" ran for a decade - there, the lampshade still burned behind the cream curtains, the Christmas tree was still being decorated… but the world was already beginning to sway, and the approach of the catastrophe of "Flight" was already felt.
