A play based on the story by Alexander Pushkin, whose genre was defined by contemporaries as a novella-boulevard. In his sparklingly humorous work, Pushkin combined three archetypal plots: the disguise of an aristocrat as a commoner, the love of a young man and woman from feuding families, and the love of a nobleman for a peasant girl. The story itself is, on one hand, very far from theatrical text, and on the other, incredibly theatrical. The Youth Theatre presents its own version of the classic story, in which Pushkin virtuously combined all the features of the light genre.
