In honor of International Women's Day, "Aurora" will screen films featuring iconic actresses: Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart, and Tilda Swinton. "The Abyss of the Female Soul" was the title of the first film shown at the "Piccadilly" cinema, which opened in 1913 (the historical name of "Aurora"). The image of the femme fatale, complex and contradictory yet invariably alluring, has been developed by cinema throughout its existence. In honor of the main women's holiday, "Aurora" offers to explore this image through the lens of three very different contemporary actresses, each of whom has embodied it in her own way. In the art-horror film "Personal Shopper," Kristen Stewart's character exists on the border between reality and the supernatural. "The Sea of Temptation" with Anne Hathaway offers a modern interpretation of the femme fatale. The poetic film "Only Lovers Left Alive" with Tilda Swinton's hypnotically detached character makes her almost a mythological figure. Each screening will be preceded by a talk from film expert Natalia Kazurova.
