A retrospective marking the 120th anniversary of Sergey Gerasimov's birth gathers his key films - from early sound pictures to the late film biography of Leo Tolstoy. At the center of the program is the figure of Sergey Gerasimov, a director, actor, and educator, whose biography spanned different periods of Soviet cinema. The retrospective shows how his language evolved: from adventurous and heroic plots of the 1930s to grand historical canvases, family dramas, and late confessional films about Leo Tolstoy. Audiences will see films that capture different aspects of his creativity. "The Seven Brave" tells about polar explorers and character trials in the Arctic, "Komsomolsk" takes us to the construction of the "city of youth" in the Far East, "The Teacher" speaks of vocation and trust, while "Masquerade" addresses Lermontov's drama of jealousy, intrigues, and fatal mistakes. The military line is represented by the films "The Invincible", "Young Guard", and "The Great Land". The program also includes other films - "Journalist", "Leo Tolstoy", "By the Lake", "Daughters-Mothers", "The Youth of Peter", and more.
