About

A morning seminar in Lermontovka dedicated to an honest conversation about support, sobriety, and the power of live communication. Participants will learn how Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings are structured, what the format of open story exchange provides, and why attentive listening helps people feel less lonely, find support in communication, and regain interest in life. Mornings in the library sometimes start with people simply sitting next to each other and talking about what has long wanted to come out. The seminar in Lermontovka is built around a live conversation, where there are no random topics or standard phrases. The focus is on the experiences of those who have already traveled part of the way to sobriety and the questions of those who are just beginning to consider changes. Instead of complex terminology, stories are shared that easily resonate with our fears, mistakes, and small victories. Guests learn how AA meetings are organized: why regulations are necessary, why it is important to maintain anonymity, and how a space of trust is created. They discuss a format where everyone can express themselves, and others learn to listen without interrupting or imposing advice. This active listening helps those sharing their stories feel supported, while those who are silent can see others with similar experiences and different life backgrounds. A separate block is dedicated to the significance of regular meetings in the recovery process. Members of the AA fellowship explain what the rhythm of meetings provides, how attitudes toward oneself and others change when the habit of honestly discussing difficult moments develops. It is about the sense of community, the opportunity not to close oneself off in personal experiences, and gradually learning to ask for help. During the meeting, stories are shared: what words supported someone in a difficult moment, which phrase from a meeting is still remembered, what a person who came for the first time shares. Thanks to this, the seminar stops being a dry lecture format and becomes a space for exchanging experiences, where every example can resonate and give a reason to reflect on one’s own path.
