The seminar on addiction and control raises a difficult but important topic - how acknowledging powerlessness can be the first step towards help. Speakers from the AA Fellowship will discuss attempts to manage life, substances, and loved ones, the collapse of such scenarios, and why an honest conversation can sometimes open the way to freedom. The topic of control is particularly painful where a person faces addiction. It seems that just a little more effort will allow one to manage behavior, substances, mood, relationships, or the reactions of loved ones. However, attempts to hold everything in one's hands often only intensify fatigue, shame, and loneliness. The seminar offers to talk about this honestly: without grand promises, accusations, and beautiful formulas that do not withstand the test of real life. The meeting will be led by speakers from the AA Fellowship. They will share experiences of how the desire to control everything can lead to new relapses, conflicts, and internal collapse. At the center of the conversation is the moment when a person stops pretending to cope alone and begins to acknowledge that previous methods no longer work. We know what to see in St. Petersburg.
