About

Even with an outwardly prosperous life, anxiety, bursts of irritability, and feelings of emptiness can return. Participants will explore why some limitations are not enough for sustainable recovery and discuss the experiences of people who use the "12-step program" to cope with internal tension. Giving up a destructive habit changes life, but it does not always bring the expected relief by itself. A person can maintain a regimen, take care of their health, and avoid previous behaviors, yet still experience anxiety, irritability, and a sense that everything is going wrong. In the seminar, participants will examine why external discipline sometimes does not resolve internal conflict and what experiences may accompany the recovery journey. The center of the conversation will be a state that Dr. William Silkwood described as a combination of anxiety, irritability, and dissatisfaction. Speakers will share personal experiences: they will talk about how emotional breakdowns occurred even against the backdrop of a healthy lifestyle and why attempts to cope with them solely through prohibitions did not yield sustainable results. Special attention will be given to the "12-step program." The discussion will focus on actions that help to more honestly assess one's state, notice recurring behavior patterns, and seek support instead of isolation. We will tell you where to go in St. Petersburg today.
