Formed in 2008, the Scott Reeves Jazz Orchestra is comprised of 18 of New York's most acclaimed jazz musicians, including vocalist Carolyn Leonhart and saxophonist Steve Wilson. Scott Reeves is a veteran NY trombonist and Professor Emeritus at the City College of New York. He also taught at the Juilliard School, Indiana University and other colleges. The band's repertoire, all scored by Reeves, consists of arrangements of works by Shorter, Corea, Jobim, as well as standards and originals. The band has released two records on the Origin label Portraits and Places and Without a Trace. (https://scottreeves.bandcamp.com/) For their sixth performance at Birdland, the program will include a mix of older favorites and new material, including a debut of Scott's scoring of the seminal Wayne Shorter recording, The All Seeing Eye.
