"The Third Place" launches a new program of author's cinema aimed at showing what Russian cinema looks like today through the eyes of directors who create outside the mainstream. Throughout the cycle, viewers will see six films. The new screening program is dedicated to author's cinema in modern Russia. It continues the conversation started by film critic Sergey Dyoshin's lecture and allows viewers to see how contemporary directors work with themes of memory, everyday life, absurdity, and social upheaval. Six films by different authors are united not by genre or style, but by the search for a new perspective on reality and an honest expression about the times. The program includes "Firebird" by Roman Mikhailov - an experimental film where the space of St. Petersburg collides with visions and dreams, turning into a metaphor for elusive identity. The film "On This Land" transports the viewer to the Russian hinterland and explores the lives of people on the periphery, where questions of survival and human dignity resonate particularly sharply. The film "The White Steamship", based on the story by Chinghiz Aitmatov, gains additional resonance in a new interpretation, showing the world through the eyes of a child searching for hope amid harsh realities. In "The Alien", the author confronts the mundane with the fantastic, offering a metaphor for the outsider in an indifferent society. The satirical drama "Angels Don't Buzz" by Alexander Seliverstov brings together 12 characters on one screen, whose fates unexpectedly intertwine at a culinary master class, turning a mundane situation into an allegory of modern society. The program concludes with the film "Wolves", which explores fear, violence, and the fragility of human connections in a tense dramatic form. The program "Author's Cinema in Modern Russia" shows that new directors are not afraid to seek a language to engage with reality, and gives viewers the opportunity to see this reality on the big screen - multi-layered, complex, but alive.
