About

Winter matinees, masquerades, carnivals - a tradition loved by children and parents. In this session, participants will learn about the history of festive Christmas trees of the 20th century, create carnival masks, and even perform as actors. All for the sake of fun, creativity, and New Year inspiration! The sound of glasses clinking, decorated Christmas trees, and confetti - everyone associates the New Year celebration with something personal. But how did children celebrate it in different eras? This is what participants of the museum workshop will discover. The excursion part of the session will reveal vivid details about the traditions of Soviet New Year matinees, who and how could attend the main Christmas tree, what carnival costumes were in fashion, and why there were no parents in the hall. The guide will explain how the scripts of the holiday changed over the decades, who staged the Christmas tree performances, and how the festive culture was formed. After the excursion, guests will enjoy a creative workshop. The kids will create their own carnival masks, remember or invent images of fairy tale characters, feel like artists on the New Year stage, and reveal their talents. The session is designed specifically for children aged 6 to 10. It combines educational and creative components, allowing participants to experience the festive experience in its entirety - from immersion in the past to the joy of collaborative creativity. Where to go with children in Yekaterinburg can be found on KudaGo.
