Why are dragonflies real air pirates? An engaging activity from the eco-center "Losiny Ostrov" will reveal the secrets of these ancient predators to children. How can an insect inspire the creation of a supersonic airplane? Why are dragonflies called air pirates? This will be discussed in a session for children aged 5 to 8, organized by the eco-center "Losiny Ostrov" in the cozy Children's Room of the Russian State Library for Youth. Guests of the event will learn that dragonflies are not just beautiful and fast insects, but real hunters with a prehistoric past. They existed during the time of dinosaurs, could fly at incredible speeds, and caught their prey with astonishing precision. Environmental education specialist Olga Kovba will tell the children how these creatures are structured, why their behavior is compared to that of pirates, and what secrets the wings of insects hide. In addition to the educational part, the kids will enjoy a creative workshop - they will make a paper dragonfly - and then will be able to browse nature albums and play in a specially prepared space for them. The entire session is designed to combine play, science, and communication. Ideas on where to go in Moscow are collected on our website.
