About

The session opens up the world of fairy tales to children in a new format - in Russian sign language. Using folk stories such as "The Feather of Finist the Clear Falcon" and "The Tale of Baba Yaga", young participants will learn about the symbolism of one of the most mysterious figures in folklore. Baba Yaga is not just a villain who frightens heroes, but a complex character that hides archetypes and cultural meanings. The kids will discuss why she is depicted this way, why she lives in a hut on chicken legs, and what role she plays in the fairy tale world. Special attention will be given to the perception of fairy tales by deaf children and teenagers. Through reading and discussion, they develop emotional intelligence, expand their vocabulary, and learn to express their feelings. The program becomes not only educational but also therapeutic. The session will be conducted by Nadezhda Chaushyan - a psychologist at the NGO "House of the Deaf". She will explain how a fairy tale can become a tool for self-discovery and a way to talk about important things without words. The format of the event makes it accessible and engaging for a wide audience, including children with perception difficulties. Where to go with a child in Moscow, look for on our website.
