The meeting will present a new all-Russian competition for illustrated stories dedicated to the modern interpretation of myths and legends of the peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East. The competition is organized by the Center for Illustrated Stories of the Russian State Library for Youth. Its goal is to show how traditional plots can transition into visual culture: into comics, author graphics. Participants in the meeting will be told why such stories are important now, how to work with folklore material carefully and expressively, and how the competition can be interesting for artists, screenwriters, culture researchers, and readers who follow the development of Russian comics. The conversation will feature Denis Lopatnikov, head of the Center for Illustrated Stories of RGBM, Julia Kanunnikova, a center employee, comic artist, and visual culture researcher, as well as Vyacheslav Konovalov, a radio host, curator of festivals and literary awards. The meeting will be suitable for teenagers, young authors, comic book fans, teachers, librarians, and anyone interested in mythology, visual storytelling, and cultural preservation. Where to go in Moscow today is known by KudaGo.
