The "ATOM" museum continues its program dedicated to the development of the Northern Sea Route. Guests will not only learn interesting facts about the northernmost region of the Earth and its development but also get acquainted with the modern atomic icebreaker fleet, including the icebreaker "Vaigach". The icebreaker "Vaigach" celebrates its birthday on July 25. It was launched 35 years ago and continues its service in the icy expanses of the Arctic. A distinctive feature of this icebreaker is its reduced draft. Its main task is to guide vessels along the Northern Sea Route to the mouths of Siberian rivers, which are shallower compared to the seas. The icebreaker "Vaigach", like its "older brother", the icebreaker "Taimyr", was built according to project 10580. Both icebreakers continue to operate and have repeatedly faced challenges that are only possible under Arctic conditions.
