In October, the international Mental Health Film Festival (MHFF) will take place. This event turns cinema into a means of conversation about what often remains in the shadows - mental disorders, loneliness, internal conflicts, and the cost of labels. The Mental Health Film Festival (MHFF) is an international festival dedicated to the theme of mental health. Its goal is to talk about complex issues in simple language, using cinema as a tool for dialogue and a way to break the silence around questions that often remain closed. MHFF brings together filmmakers, audiences, and specialists in a single space where films become an opportunity to discuss what it means to be human in a world of labels, fears, and self-discovery. The organizers emphasize that for them, it is important not only to showcase films but also to hold discussions that allow for different perspectives on mental health - personal, medical, social, and cultural. Each screening is accompanied by an opportunity for dialogue: with psychologists, psychiatrists, film scholars, or the creators themselves. The themes defining the festival in 2025 are directly related to the global context. Among them are narcissism, depression, phobias, and loneliness: these are the issues that filmmakers most frequently raised in the submitted films. The organizers highlight that themes change from year to year, but each program reflects the vibrant pulse of modern society. The 2025 program features 50 films: 6 feature-length and 44 short films. Among them are global festival hits, Russian premieres, and films that will be shown for the first time in our country. This year, viewers in Russia will exclusively see five feature films. The organizers particularly note the diversity of formats: from confessional documentary works to experimental animated films exploring the inner world through visual metaphors. In St. Petersburg, films from the festival will be screened at two venues - the "Rodina" cinema and the public space "Sevkabel Port."
