The 35th anniversary festival "Message to Man" is not limited to competitive screenings and film programs - two round tables dedicated to the connection between art, philosophy, and contemporary history will take place at "New Holland". The film festival marks 35 years of reflections on time - not only on the time of cinema but also on the time of civilization. The organizers propose to view the decades as a movement along a sine wave - from 1989 to 2025, from belief in the "end of history" to a new reality filled with anxieties and contradictions. The first round table "From Post-History to History. On Illusions and Realities" will take place on October 18 and will focus on how humanity has transitioned from an era of globalist utopias and confidence in eternal progress to today's state of instability. How did we find ourselves again in an era of historical fractures from the promised "world without conflicts" by Francis Fukuyama? The second meeting - "What to Do with Art in the Midst of a Multicrisis" - will continue the conversation, but from the perspective of the creators. On October 19, participants will discuss how an artist can speak in an era when the noise of contradictions drowns out meaning. What happens to art when it confronts global anxiety and the loss of familiar orientations? Can it become a means of experiencing and understanding, or is it also facing a crisis of expressive forms? Both meetings are conceived as an open intellectual dialogue where philosophy and art meet reality, without hiding behind ready-made answers.
