Leningrad lithography comes to life in the works of Viktor Vilner and Vadim Brodsky - masters whose art absorbed the spirit of the time. The opening is dedicated to the memory of the artists and the 30th anniversary of the closure of the legendary workshop on Pesochna Embankment. The exhibition sheds light on the fate of the Leningrad lithographic workshop and its two iconic authors - Vilner and Brodsky. At the Library of Book Graphics, an exhibition is opening dedicated to significant dates - the centenary of Viktor Vilner's birth and the 80th anniversary of Vadim Brodsky. Both artists played a key role in the history of Leningrad lithography - a phenomenon that long defined the face of domestic graphics. The exhibition features works from the private collection of Kirill Avelyev, allowing viewers to see the evolution of the artistic language of both masters. The delicate poetics of Vilner, inspired by classical literature, coexists with the lyrical restraint of Brodsky, which absorbed the traditions of the Nemenova and Lapshin schools. The exhibition is not only about the works. It is about the place that gave birth to them - the lithographic workshop on Pesochna. From 1990 to 1996, life thrived here, prints were created, new generations were trained, and a unique visual style was formed. In 1995, when Vilner and Brodsky closed the doors of the studio, an entire era came to an end - quietly and unceremoniously. This event is an opportunity to look at Leningrad graphics as a living organism, filled with personal stories, influences, and searches. Viewers will be presented with a multilayered picture of the cultural life of the city and those who created it. Admission is free. Vilner, inspired by Pushkin and Blok, brought decorativeness and literary quality to graphics. Brodsky, on the other hand, worked concisely, accurately, and deeply, expressing meanings with minimal means.
