The main character has locked herself in the house and covered the mirrors while waiting for her beloved Anatole, who left her 20 years ago. Eventually, Anatole appears, but not as before; it is his son who brings news of his father's death. A love triangle arises involving Erica, Vanessa's niece, but in the end, Anatole and Vanessa leave together. Erica locks herself in the house, covers the mirrors to avoid seeing her fading beauty, and begins a new cycle of endless waiting.
