The opera "Don Giovanni" by W. A. Mozart is complex to interpret and ambiguous in its meaning, having no single version of interpretation: the composer himself adjusted the intended ideas from production to production. The "opera of operas" raised thousands of questions: how to present the death of a famous womanizer, what is the moral of this story, who should love whom, and ultimately, who is the main character? A libertine? A deceiver? An intriguer? The new interpretation of the libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte presents Don Giovanni as a literary archetype, a free and happy hero, seduced by every crazy story that happens to him in life. Whether it is another scene of explanation with Donna Elvira, or the moment of Leporello's mysterious transformation, or the dramatic fall of the main character into the abyss, drawn by the Commander. Don Giovanni is wittily cunning, seductively beautiful, and mysteriously attractive. Moreover, each character in Alexander Titel's production is musically rich. The recitatives, so characteristic of Italian opera, acquire musicality on stage thanks to the characters of the heroes. The complex of melody and acting thus presents a wholeness of a particular image. This performance is notable not only for its cast. As decorations, the set designer Adomas Yacovskis created a unique structure, one side of which consists of 30 pianos stacked on top of each other (their keys nailed down, symbolizing the silenced music, and thus death), while the other side is intertwined with clusters of red grapes, a symbol of fertility and wealth. And thanks to the lighting designer - Damir Ismagilov - the wall with the piano lids takes on incomparable forms of a library, an altar, and a cemetery crypt under different lighting.
