The Mikhailovsky Theatre will present one-act ballets by Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato. Three performances, "Without Words", "Prelude", and "White Darkness", will be shown in one evening. A combination of classical and contemporary dance in Nacho Duato's choreography, with costumes and sets created by the outstanding Spaniard himself. The ballet "Without Words" was seen by Russian audiences in 2011. Nacho Duato created this production to the music of F. Schubert for the American Ballet Theatre. The choreographer aimed to exclude all kinds of romance from the dance. The main themes of the plot of this work are love and death, which the composer also infused into his music. Duato sought to demonstrate in the ballet real life, unembellished and spontaneous. In "Prelude", set to works by Handel, Beethoven, and Britten, the choreographer reflected his feelings and thoughts that were born in a new era of his life - during his work in St. Petersburg, at the Mikhailovsky Theatre. The production intertwines two different worlds - modern and classical ballet. In the third work, "White Darkness", the music of C. Jenkins is featured.
