About

The book club meeting is dedicated to Neil Gaiman's novel about a boy named Nobody Owens - a story of home, friendship, and growing up among unusual guardians. Sometimes a book with the darkest beginning turns out to be surprisingly bright. Neil Gaiman's novel about Nobody Owens revolves around a place where stories usually end, but here it is where the hero's coming of age begins. The graveyard becomes his home, and the unusual inhabitants are those who protect, teach, and help him understand the world beyond. At the "Phoenix" book club meeting, participants will discuss why this fantastic book is suitable for readers of different ages. The conversation will revolve around friendship, mutual aid, trust, growing up, and how the hero gradually discovers himself through those around him. A separate topic will be the literary foundation of the novel. Gaiman took the structure of Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book" as a reference, and this is reflected even in the original title - "The Graveyard Book". During the discussion, it will be possible to compare how this scheme works: a child grows up among an unusual community, receives mentors, faces the rules of a foreign world, and gradually finds his own path. The host is Georgy Snegiryov, head of the department of industry literature at RGBM and curator of the book club. Entertainment in Moscow is gathered on our website.
