About

For the New Year holidays, the Museum of the History of Money has prepared an exciting program. Guests will get acquainted with unusual coins and banknotes, visit an ancient paper factory, create a collage of wishes, and learn how New Year was celebrated in the past century. During the festive days from January 3 to 11, the main exhibition of the museum will operate without weekends. Every day at 15:00, a family tour called "The Most-Most" will take place here. Participants of the tour will see many amazing coins: huge and tiny, minted from unusual materials. They will also examine beautiful paper banknotes, peek into the ancient mint and paper factory, and will be able to print a souvenir banknote postcard. After the program, everyone will have the opportunity to take photos near the most popular exhibits of the museum: the "Million" tower and the loader with a model of a billion rubles. From January 6 to 10 at 16:00, there will be a master class called "Gather Your Year" for teenagers aged 14 and older. Guests will create sheets of paper from cotton using ancient technology, and then each will assemble a collage map with New Year wishes. For children aged 7-12 and their parents, a route sheet called "New Year Journey with Gurtik" has been prepared. Guests will embark on a journey through the museum in the company of the bear cub Gurtik, learn about the history of New Year celebrations in Russia, and find out what gifts were given to children in the distant past. In addition, during the New Year holidays, there will be workshops on handmade paper casting and coin minting, as well as guided tours of the museum.
