"Profunda Raíz" is a program of works for four double basses by composer Rodrigo Mata, which, through stories and narratives, reflect a tremendous cultural and natural wealth primarily from Mexico. However, in some works, one can experience a journey through extraordinary places and landscapes from other parts of the world. From a purely technical aspect of the double bass, the works of "Profunda Raíz" also showcase a wide spectrum of sound possibilities that the double bass has in an ensemble of this nature, and in each composition, various extended techniques have been pushed to the limit to capture unimaginable melodies, sounds of nature, portraits of landscapes, harmonies, rhythms, and atmospheres.
