About

Paleontologist Valentina Pulyak will introduce children to the record-holders of the Mesozoic - giants, miniature species, those with long necks and natural armor. The kids will learn how scientists reconstruct the sizes, speeds, and behaviors of extinct animals, and then they will assemble a movable paper model of a dinosaur and test their knowledge in practice. The sizes of dinosaurs are astonishing, but a loud record alone tells little about the life of an ancient animal. A huge neck could help reach food, heavy armor protected against attacks, and a small body provided speed and maneuverability. In this scientific masterclass, paleontologist Valentina Pulyak will show children how to compare such features and understand why they were necessary for different species. Participants will get acquainted with the largest and smallest representatives of the Mesozoic, learn about those with long necks, powerful jaws, and bony plates. The conversation will also touch on the Tyrannosaurus: the kids will figure out whether it can be considered the most dangerous predator of its time and why an animal's strength depends not on a single trait. Special attention will be paid to the work of scientists. The practical part will help reinforce the material hands-on. Each participant will create a movable model of a dinosaur from paper, understand how its parts connect, and will be able to take their work home. We know where to go with a child.
