A fairy tale can be not only for reading before bedtime but also for a thoughtful conversation with oneself. In this masterclass, participants together with psychologist Yulia Palacio will transform personal experiences into original stories and see how an invented plot suggests steps in real life, helps relieve tension, and gently formulates their desires. Adults and teenagers often think that fairy tales are about childhood, princes, and magical objects. In fact, familiar childhood plots hide a whole system of images through which the psyche delicately speaks about fears, desires, and boundaries. In the storytelling therapy masterclass, participants will try to look at their story as a fairy tale journey of a hero who seeks support and a way out of a difficult situation. Psychologist Yulia Palacio will explain how the fairy tale language is structured and why it contains so many recurring motifs. The evil forest, the helper-mentor, trials, magical assistants-all these elements can be recognized in one's own experience. Together with the facilitator, participants will analyze what role a person usually plays in a fairy tale: are they more like a hero, an observer, a rescuer, or someone who always remains on the sidelines of events? This perspective helps gently see familiar scenarios and think about which steps one wants to change. The practical part of the session will be dedicated to creating one's own story. Participants will be invited to choose a relevant request-an experience, conflict, dream, or deadlock-and then translate it into the fairy tale world. Metaphors, symbols, and unexpected plot twists will come into play. There is no need to master literary techniques: honesty and willingness to try are what matter. As the work progresses, it will become noticeable which images repeat, who helps the hero, where support comes from, and what becomes the reward in the end. Yulia Palacio will show in an accessible way how through such a story one can understand their needs, notice boundaries, and relate to experiences differently. The fairy tale becomes a safe space where one can try on new strategies without risking real relationships or studies.
