About

Aristotle's work will serve as the basis for a discussion about the nature of the soul, thinking, and the connection between the body and consciousness. Participants will analyze the reasoning of the ancient Greek philosopher and find out why this text is considered one of the early sources of psychological thought. The work should be read in advance. Aristotle approaches the topic of the soul as a researcher of living nature. He tries to understand what allows a person to feel, move, and think, and whether these abilities can be considered separately from the body. Participants in the meeting will analyze the philosopher's arguments and learn why his conclusions still provoke debate. The discussion will begin with the differences between Aristotle and Plato. Instead of Plato's representation of the soul as an independent entity temporarily connected to the body, Aristotle examines it through the functions of a living being. Participants will delve into the text of the work, stopping at key concepts and comparing fragments. A separate topic of the session will be the connection between Aristotle's treatise and the history of psychology. The work should be read in full beforehand. The meeting will be conducted by Konstantin Kazachenko - a philosophy lecturer and graduate of the philosophy faculty of RGGU. KudaGo features an up-to-date program for Moscow.
