About

Lecturer Vladimir Nikolaev invites us to view the city as a system of visible and hidden borders. Vladimir Nikolaev's lecture continues the public program of the exhibition "Borders of Age" and examines urban spaces through a sociological lens. The focus of the discussion is on material and immaterial borders, everyday orders, rights and responsibilities that regulate people's lives in the city. They are rarely written on signs, but they determine how we behave in the entrance hall, park, library, courtyard, transport, or square. As long as the rule works smoothly, it is easy to overlook it. But as soon as someone crosses an arbitrary line, changes the usual script, or asserts their right to a place, the rule becomes apparent. The lecture will be of interest to those following urban studies, sociology of everyday life, architecture, urbanism, and cultural practices. It will help to look more closely at the familiar environment and notice that the city is composed not only of buildings and routes but of constant interaction between people. Where to go in Moscow today is known by KudaGo.
