The fairy tale easily disguises itself as entertainment for children, but the adult reader feels something more in it: anxiety, anticipation of change, a premonition of an important choice. The lecture will address how familiar characters gain a new dimension when viewed as reflections of a person's internal processes. The dense forest transforms into a metaphor for diving into unknown layers of the psyche, a place where familiar landmarks cease to work and one must rely on intuition. Baba Yaga's hut ceases to be a decoration of a scary story and becomes the threshold from which the hero's initiation begins, his exit beyond the boundaries of ordinary life.
