Can we better understand a country through its cuisine? We explore how food preserves historical memory and unites cultures. The conversation will focus on Russian gastronomic traditions - from the northern regions to the south of the country. Participants will be invited to view cuisine not only as a part of daily life but also as an important element of cultural memory and self-identification. The lecture will discuss how dishes from different regions reflect the history and character of the peoples: from northern fish and homemade pastries to Caucasian shashlik and Volga sweets. Special attention will be given to the phenomenon of gastronomic nostalgia - how familiar tastes help maintain a connection with native places and family traditions. The speaker will be cultural expert Anastasia Kalinina. Don't forget to register for the event.
