A lecture for schoolchildren aged 8-12 introduces the dining traditions of Ancient Greece through stories about symposia, unusual rules of behavior, and favorite dishes. In this session, children find themselves at an imaginary table of an ancient Greek feast. Instead of regular chairs - couches, instead of utensils - hands, instead of quiet conversations - philosophical debates and jokes. The lecturer explains step by step what a symposium looked like, what was served at the table, and why each dish had its own role in the life of the city and its inhabitants. Through examples from the daily lives of ancient residents, children are introduced to a whole world of meanings. Bread here is linked to politics, fish turns out to be an expensive delicacy dreamed of in the market, and garlic accompanies warriors as a simple but important product. The kids learn how wine was mixed with water, why it was considered wrong to drink it undiluted, and what treats were served during major celebrations in Athens and other city-states. The number of participants is limited to 15 people. Entertainment in Nizhny Novgorod is collected on our website.
