Diplomat, monk, writer, and philosopher Konstantin Leontiev is one of the most controversial figures in the history of Russian thought. Konstantin Leontiev is a figure that evokes debate and admiration. One of the brightest and most paradoxical thinkers of the 19th century, he journeyed from doctor to monk, from secular writer to philosopher, whose views do not fit into conventional frameworks. His life path, filled with sharp turns and ideological searches, will be the topic of the lecture in the Rare Book Hall. Alexey Matveev, an economist, MISIS graduate, and founder of the Historical Club named after Leontiev, will explain why the philosopher rejected liberalism and socialism, the essence of his concept of "heptastilism," and how he envisioned the cultural development of humanity. Special attention will be given to Leontiev's writings, his views on history, sociology, and the fate of Russia.
