About

Sometimes anxiety sneaks in on the calmest day - the heart beats faster, thoughts scatter in different directions, and the body seems to live its own life. The lecture will explore why this happens and what simple techniques can help regain stability. Anxiety knows how to disguise itself as concern for the future: it throws dozens of scenarios, criticizes for mistakes, and doesn't let you breathe, even when everything goes according to plan. It seems that as soon as you relax, a new reason for worry immediately arises in your mind. The lecture will discuss why this happens and what can be done so that you control your thoughts, rather than they control you. Anxiety is related to brain function, stress hormones, and bodily reactions. Listeners will learn why some people find it difficult to stop "replaying" events, while others seem to let go of experiences more easily. The lecturer will explain what typical traps of anxious thinking look like - catastrophizing, perfectionism, endless attempts to control everything. Participants will get acquainted with tools from cognitive-behavioral therapy: breathing exercises and ways to bring attention back to the present moment. This meeting is suitable for those who are tired of constant internal tension, support loved ones with anxious experiences, or simply want to better understand their states. Ideas on where to go in Moscow are collected on our website.
