About

A journey through Tbilisi via the language of architecture - from fortresses and old courtyards with wooden balconies to modernist neighborhoods. Tbilisi is a city that seems both ancient and modern at the same time. The lecture offers not just a review of attractions, but a guide to reading the city. First, guests will look into the origins - to medieval churches and old quarters - and understand how neighbors like Persia, Byzantium, Russia, and Europe influenced the city's formation. Then you will be transported to the 19th century and analyze how apartment buildings emerged and why facades became "speaking". A separate block will focus on Soviet urbanism. Guests will discuss what meanings are hidden in "boring" facades and why these neighborhoods are just as important as ancient streets. Finally, modernity - new public spaces. A discussion awaits on how tourist popularity affects heritage. We will tell you how to organize leisure in St. Petersburg.
