The conversation will center around a composition that has long become part of world musical culture, yet continues to raise questions. Why does the 'Moonlight Sonata' affect the listener even after two centuries, where did the famous title come from, and what changes if we look at it not as a romantic symbol, but as a thoughtful and internally tense statement by Beethoven himself? The host of this program is musicologist, pianist, and popularizer of classical music Alexander Velikovsky. The lecture will be accompanied by a live performance, meaning that the discussion about form, dramaturgy, and hidden meanings immediately receives audible confirmation.
