About

The meeting will discuss the image of Orlando as performed by Andrei Mironov, the humanistic ideas of the film, and why its fantastic world still touches viewers. Soviet cinema of the 1980s skillfully addressed the fairy tale genre so that behind the fantastic plot, a serious conversation about man, his choices, and his ability to change the world emerged. The meeting will analyze the film in which the journey through dangers and wonders becomes a way to talk about freedom of thought, responsibility, and the price of human kindness. One of the central figures of the film is Orlando, played by Andrei Mironov. His character is far from the usual image of the fairy tale savior: he is an inventor, thinker, and humanist who believes in the power of knowledge and human reason. Through him, the story addresses the ideals of the Renaissance, when curiosity, the desire for discoveries, and faith in human potential were seen as forces capable of resisting fear and cruelty. The film intertwines adventure and parable, humor and anxiety, fairy tale conventions and quite adult questions. We tell you on KUDAGO where to go in St. Petersburg this weekend for free.
