About

A young scholar will present research shedding light on the evolution of philosophical thought about myth, word, and thinking. The next session of the interdisciplinary seminar "Reading Losev" will be dedicated to comparing the ideas of two outstanding thinkers - linguist A.A. Potebnya and philosopher A.F. Losev. The report will be delivered by Alexander Sergeyevich Apalkov - a graduate student at the Department of the History of Russian Philosophy at Moscow State University and an employee of the library-museum "House of A.F. Losev." The focus will be on the key categories of the philosophy of myth: word, language, poetry, meaning. Apalkov will explore how Potebnya's ideas about the nature of language and myth were reinterpreted by Losev, how perceptions transformed from a psychological approach to an ontological one, and what consequences this had for the entire humanitarian thought of the 20th century. The report will be of interest to both specialists in philosophy and philology and a wide audience interested in the history of thought, linguistics, and literary theory. An open discussion is expected during the seminar, where each participant will be able to ask questions and discuss the proposed ideas. Where to go in Moscow, KudaGo knows.
