About

Fashion is more than trends and brands. It is a language through which society speaks about itself. The lecture "Decoding Fashion" will help you look beyond the facade of things and see the ideas, meanings, and stories hidden behind outfits. A thoughtful approach to style, a look through time and culture - in one inspiring evening. What is fashion? Is it just following trends, an endless change of styles and brands? The lecture "Decoding Fashion," organized in collaboration with the HSE School of Design, proves the opposite: fashion is a language through which society speaks about itself. It is a mirror of the era, an expression of ideals, values, and even protests. Fashion has its own grammar and vocabulary. It can unite and divide, create barriers or break them down. In the lecture, you will not only learn about the history of the fashion industry but also learn to see the ideas behind the facade of clothing - social, cultural, personal. This is a conversation about awareness and self-expression, about the choices we make every day, often without thinking - choosing what to wear. The lecturer is Nikita Zelepukhin, a fashion stylist, designer, and lecturer at the Costume Design Department of SPGHPA named after A.L. Stieglitz and the HSE School of Design. Thanks to his experience and deep knowledge of the subject, the meeting turns into a full-fledged journey through the world of fashion - from ancient tunics to digital avatars. Listeners will learn how fashion influences society and personality, who shapes it besides designers, and how one can learn to speak this "language." You will understand that the choice of clothing is not just aesthetics but also a position reflecting the inner world, social context, and cultural codes. This lecture is especially suitable for those interested in the history of culture, design, working in creative industries, or simply wanting to look at what they see in the mirror every day in a new way. The light, accessible format, lively style, and opportunity to ask questions will make the evening not only useful but truly inspiring. We share on our website where to go with children in St. Petersburg.
