Using archival photographs of Vrubel's works, art historian Elsa Popova will introduce listeners to the genius of the great artist, manifested in painting, sculpture, theater, and architecture. Vrubel is a bright representative of modernism, who did not limit himself to the frameworks of art forms and equally brilliantly manifested himself in decorative arts, theater, and architecture. Together with the lecturer, guests of the exhibition "Dali and Picasso" will immerse themselves in the worlds of the master, appreciate his unique style, and analyze key works in the context of the era. Listeners will learn: what lies behind the demonic, epic, and fairy-tale images of the artist; why Vrubel's decorations for Rimsky-Korsakov's operas are called visual scores; how the painter influenced the development of architecture; how the denial of a "pure" genre made his work a benchmark of the modernist era.
