About

Art historian Elizaveta Shemyakina will discuss with the audience one of the most interesting collaborations of the 20th century, which combined traditional Russian ballet and modernist trends in painting. The 'Russian Ballet' of Sergei Diaghilev became an incredible cultural phenomenon, having a huge impact on the development of dance and world art as a whole. Two extraordinary Spanish artists played a significant role in the success of Diaghilev's ballets: Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso designed costumes, sets, and sometimes even contributed to the scripts of the productions. How the amazing vision of the masters of cubism and surrealism managed to find expression in the traditions of ballet and what mark their acquaintance with Russian culture left on their lives and creativity - the audience will discover answers to these questions and embark on an exciting immersion into the world of art and scenography. For details and to purchase tickets, visit the website. The ticket grants access to the exhibition "Dalí & Picasso" on the day of the event.
