About

Costume in cinema is the key to understanding a character's personality. In the lecture by Ekaterina Bychkova, the audience will embark on an exciting journey through noir and criminal worlds, where style often speaks louder than words. How can an ordinary jacket be transformed into a symbol of power and danger? Why can a hat tell more about a hero than his monologue? And how does costume help create an atmosphere of fear, intrigue, or fatal attraction on screen? The lecture will be conducted by Ekaterina Bychkova - an art historian, fashion and design historian, and mediator at the State Hermitage Museum. The audience will get acquainted with a whole pantheon of criminal and charismatic characters: from gangsters in "Scarface" (1932 and 1983) to the elegant heroes of films like "Gentlemen", "The Godfather", "Bonnie and Clyde", and "A Clockwork Orange". Special attention will be given to the works of Alfred Hitchcock and Quentin Tarantino, whose characters are literally "written" into their costumes. Register via the link. We share on KudaGo where to go in St. Petersburg this weekend for free.
