About

Through family photographs and archival evidence, one can trace how wedding customs changed in post-war Leningrad. The meeting will help to see what remained unchanged over the decades and what was dictated by fashion. Participants will be told how wedding celebrations took place in Leningrad in the second half of the 20th century and what traditions accompanied marriage. The focus will be on changes in ceremonies, festive feasts, decoration of celebrations, and the images of newlyweds. The basis for the conversation will be photographs from the 1950s to the 1980s, capturing the residents of Ohta on one of the most important days of their lives. Registration can be done on Timepad.
